JOHNSTON, Iowa – ® is giving players more chances to win cash prizes and bigger jackpots with two exciting additions to America’s jackpot game! A new Monday drawing will join the weekly lineup of drawings currently held on Wednesday and Saturday. In addition, a new add-on feature called Double Play® will give players in select jurisdictions another chance to match their numbers in a separate drawing with a top cash prize of $10 million. The new Monday night drawing and Double Play add-on feature launch August 23.

Players can watch the new Monday drawings and Double Play drawings live online at with a new live stream feature that launched earlier this summer; the Monday drawings will also be broadcast live by participating television stations.
Powerball Tickets Become Popular As Jackpot Grows To $441 Million For Dec. 29, 2021
The Product Group anticipates adding the Monday drawing will result in larger, faster-growing jackpots. The group also expects to see an increase in the number of cash prizes and jackpots awarded on an annual basis. The first Monday drawing will be held on August 23, 2021 at 10:59 p.m. ET.
Adding a third drawing will not change the ® game odds or set cash prizes. Players will continue to choose five numbers from 1 to 69 and one number from 1 to 26. The Power Play® add-on feature will also be available for an additional $1 per play to multiply non-jackpot prizes and will only apply to prizes won in the drawing. All 48 U.S. lotteries will sell tickets for the drawing on Monday nights.
The Double Play® add-on feature will be offered in 13 lottery jurisdictions, and players can add the feature to their ticket for an additional $1 per play. The Double Play drawing will be held after every drawing on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. Players will play the same set of numbers inboth the main drawing and Double Play drawing, and tickets that include the Double Play® add-on will be eligible to win prizes in both drawings.

At launch, Double Play® will be available for purchase in the following jurisdictions: Colorado, Florida, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee and Washington. Additional lotteries may choose to offer Double Play at a later date.

The largest lottery jackpot in U.S. history is up for grabs on Monday night. This time the Powerball jackpot is an estimated $1.9 billion with a cash option of $929.1 million.
The jackpot jumped again after no one across the country hit Saturday’s then-record $1.6568 billion drawing. A $1 million ticket bought at an Edison convenience store was one of 17 second-prize tickets bought nationwide that matched five numbers but not the Powerball.
There have been 40 drawings held since the jackpot was last won. A $206.9 million Powerball ticket was purchased in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, for the Aug. 3 drawing. The longest jackpot run in Powerball history without a top prize winner ended on Oct. 4, 2021, when a ticket in California won a $699.8 million jackpot on the 41st drawing.
